De Gea Wants Same Weekly Wage as Alexis – Should Man United Offer Him?

Man United’s no.1 goalkeeper, David De Gea is holding back on signing a new contract at Manchester United unless he gets same contract as the current highest paid player in Premier League, Alexis Sanchez.

David De Gea has been instrumental to United’s campaign for a few seasons now, contributing more in helping them get some crucial points through making important saves.

After Sir Alex Ferguson left the club, United had over the past few seasons, under-performed in domestic league but were still able to win both domestic and European cups, thanks to some important contribution by the goalkeeper.

Sanchez remains United and Premier League’s highest paid player with a weekly wage of £480,000, a player who has failed to live up to expectation. De Gea felt he had contributed more to deserve the wage packet and he is willing to stay only if United are ready to offer him a wage in that region.

Sanchez’s capture by Jose Mourinho during last year’s winter transfer might cause some unrest in the dressing room as his teammates may soon demand same wage especially when it is obvious they contribute more to the team than Sanchez. Should United grant De Gea his wish, Pogba could be next as his agent already raised up similar demand last year.

Ole Solskjaer may be facing a daunting task in trying to convince De Gea to stay, a keeper who has been a long term target for Real Madrid. Although, United’s hierarchy has made it firm they cant give in to the player’s wage demand but are looking for alternative ways in an attempt to convince the Spaniard to stay.

Should Man United accept De Gea’s demand of becoming the highest paid player in the team, or they should quickly cash in on the keeper?
