What Westham Stunning Comeback Could do to Tottenham’s Season

0
Westham produced the most unlikely of second-half comebacks to beat Tottenham 3-2 at Wembley and book their place in the EFL Cup quarter-finals. A dominant Spurs, without the rested Harry Kane, raced in to a two-goal half-time lead thanks to strikes from Moussa Sissoko and Dele Alli to seemingly leave Slaven Bilic’s position hanging by a thread.
Bilic’s players, though, produced a stirring second-half fightback, scoring three times in a stunning 15-minute spell to complete a remarkable turnaround. Two quick-fire goals from Andre Ayew pulled the Hammers level before Angelo Ogbonna crashed a header in to seal a memorable win that provides their under-fire manager with a timely boost.
While Tottenham alongside Manchester City are the most in-for team in the Premier League at the moment, this shocking comeback could affect their momentum in the league. They face Manchester United on Saturday, another team with a hurt manager. Mourinho was furious with his players after Huddersfield loss last week, and while they have picked themselves up during midweek Carabao’s Cup against Swansea, Mourinho would expect the United big boys to step up well against Tottenham on Saturday.
A win or draw for Tottenham would be the only options to salvage them from Westham’s shocking comeback. They will go ahead to face Real Madrid in the Champions League and next two games will be against Arsenal. Tough matches are building fast and Tottenham would need to pick themselves up real quick if they don’t want to mess up their season
